My tight muscles

Posted by socalrunnergirl on June 27, 2006

In 3 days, 16 hours and 47 minutes I will be off on my 31 mile adventure.  Wow!  It’s so close.  I’ve only run once so far this week – 5 miles in the HEAT on Sunday.  My quads are a little tight.  I’m thinking I might only run one more 3-4 mile run before Saturday.  Is that okay?  Should I run twice?  Should I run Wed or Thur for my last run if I only do one more.  Does it really matter that much?

Geesh I don’t know.  All I can said is thank God for timing.  Feeling a little "sick" today but should be fine in the next couple days.  I’m looking forward to doing this!!!  Unfortunately I’m back to driving up by myself more than likely.  Tavi’s ankle re-opened on the surface so she’s mostly back on crutches and 7 hours in a car is not going to help matters.

So Friday morning I get to leave by 5AM.  Just about 24 hours later I’ll be running for 31 miles.  Wow.  Somehow it doesn’t sound so long after reading about Western States but I know it’s long from my perspective.  And am I sick and twisted somehow that I think Western States would be fun to try sometime?  I know… Get through this one first Jess ;)

On an unrelated note, I discovered recently that I actually like some country music which I thought would never happen.  Well it has.  Can’t control our destiny I guess.  And (not country related) I have had "Minor Catastrophe’s" running through my head all week (KT Tunstall).  Thanks to Angie for that ;)   I have it on my running mix so I’m ready to go!

Happy Running y’all
Jessica

    LESS is more.
Big run coming up, run ONCE.
    That’s my take on it.
I discovered a fondness for country music a long time ago. Reminds me of the 60s folk stuff sometimes. Peter, Paul and Mary. Buffy St. Marie.
    Little boxes, little boxes
    and they’re all
    made out of ticky-tacky
and they all look just the same
    oops! SORRY!

I would definitely get out there and run one more time just to shake things out a bit and if you make it twice keep em short so that you are well rested. Other than that I know you will do great.
I hope the conditions are better than they were at Western.

Country only sounds good to me on a road trip.
    : )
Good luck with your 50k! I say do one more easy run to loosen up. Whether its Wed or Thurs probably doesn’t matter.
