I’m not sure how much I’ll be blogging while I’m here but I thought I’d at least post that I’m here and alive! The trip was fairly uneventful and I got some sleep. I’m trying not to think about what time it is back in Cali and trying to go to bed tonight around 10PM Thailand time to get on a schedule here.
The most interesting thing about the trip here was the darkness. I left LAX at 11:40PM Thursday night and it had already been dark for about 6 hours. Then it was dark my entire first leg of my trip (14 hours). The sun came up in Taipei after being there about an hour. You can see in the picture below it was cloudy and actually was cold (as I discovered walking the thingy to the plane. Very strange that it was dark for 21 hours! Kinda freaked me out. I don’t know how those north of the artic circle can deal with all that darkness. On the way back I’ll probably have 21 hours of sunlight. At one point I leave Taipei at about 6PM and arrive at LAX at 2PM. Woah. Going backwards. And I thought time travel wasn’t possible
Here are a couple more "uninteresting" pictures. One of the area outside the Taipei airport. I also have one of the brand new and sterile looking Bangkok airport. It’s kinda cool though. The picture up above is of a street near my hotel in Chon Buri.
Oh – and my foot is bugging me a bit. I may have pushed my return and I’m definitely not running while I am here to help make sure it heals!
