I have met many nice people in Thailand. Some of them from here. Some of them travelers. Today I spent the day at a private beach house with a few others. It was amazing! The itself was spectacular, as were the nicely groomed grounds around the house. In Thailand there is an interesting mix of 3rd world and modern. Rich and poor. You might see a beat up tin building that looks like it is falling apart next to a brand new building from an international (or local) company. You sometimes see very nice wealthy houses in the midst of what many in the USA would call extreme poverty.
It was a wonderful and relaxing day and here are a few pictures:
After the beach house day we were driving and experienced some of the hazards you can find on Thai streets – monkeys and dogs. Wild dogs are everywhere and occasionally so are monkeys. There were hundreds of monkeys in and around the road as we carefully navigated through them and the "wild" dogs. It was a pretty cool. There were more monkeys on the street this evening than I have ever seen in a zoo!
I saw another interesting phenomenon in Thailand – a runner! I have been here 3 weeks and today I saw the first ever person out going for a run – unless he was late and trying to get somewhere. Either way it was the closest I saw to running in a country where that activity has really never caught on.
Happy Running,
Jessica
