I wrote a poem a LONG while back called "Rainy Day Solution" when I was going through a tough time and needed some optimism. I think it’s a fitting flashback with what I went through over the past week – and the RAIN we had today! We got LOTS of rain.
Rainy Day Solution:
You ask if it hurts,
I can’t lie.
I feel as though I’ve been crucified.
It’s time to count
the times I’ve cried,
the times I’ve laughed,
the times I’ve died.
It’s all in pain,
in life it nearly always rains,
but hope carries an umbrella.
That was written back in high school I think. Yikes! Actually most of my poems are more on the sad side and are from back in those days. In my more recent years I really can’t complain about life and am almost always a bright, cheery and happy person. You all have sent me some great encouraging comments over the past few days even though you don’t know exactly what went on or the details, etc. I appreciate it! My friends have been great too like Jeff forcing me out to go on a run. Julian getting me out this morning, etc. My Umbrella has been you all this week – so thank you
The 7.25 miles I ran this morning was amazing. Here is a little comparison from last time I ran this almost identical route:
Temp: 100 degrees. Sunny
Distance: 6.8 miles
Time: 2 hours
Today
Temp: About 55 degrees. Rainy
Distance 7.25 miles
Time: 1:38
I love running in the rain and today was no exception. The trail was not too muddy and slippery though it did have some spots where we had to be careful. We had a good sized group for this last minute run: Myself, Julian, Dmitri, Bobby, Skip & Tracie. Dmitri took some pictures so I’ll post a link to those one he posts them.
One thing I know for sure is that after this morning’s run – I am a dirty, dirty girl!
Happy Running & Dirty Feet,
Jessica

Glad you have some umbrellas to rely on
Sounds like it was a great run! We got lots of rain up here too and it was so nice to feel like the world got cleansed a bit. Didn’t get a chance to run in it, but I’m hoping to get that opportunity soon.
I’m glad things are looking up a bit
Great poem, Jess!
Just posted photos from our today’s run:

Hang in there.
LOVE that poem
and yay for getting down and dirty and running!
There sure was a lot of rain, nearly 12 hours on and off! Good for you for getting down and dirty!
I could NOT believe it when it rained yesterday. When it started to pour I heard people screaming!!! So funny.
