Before I get to my crazy month… I DID run this morning. I was still pretty sore but really wanted to get out there. I met up with Julian, Mala & Sue just past 6AM this morning while it was still dark. Light was starting to peek through but as we hiked up the hill to our starting point it was still relatively dark. Mala spoke the wise words "don’t step on anything weird". Thanks Mala…
It was so peaceful and quiet out there. On top of the ridge we had enough light – just barely – to run. 15 minutes earlier and we would have needed headlamps for sure. Fortunately this section was smooth fireroad that was very runable. The light slowly came up as we made our way down Live Oak Trail. By the time we got to the technical and rocky Nature Trail loop we had plenty of light. The sun was still fighting to make its way over the top of the Santa Ana Mountains, but it was coming.
The run was tough. I had little energy by the 3rd mile. I was lagging behind big time and still feeling the effects of my exhausting day on Sunday. It was good though. And we did run just about 6 miles. The sun was surely up as we finished and all made our way off to work!
So.. this month. One Word. Crazy. First I was going to be gone 3 of 4 weekends. Then my boss told me yesterday he wants me to come out to Texas for a week. Yikes. When is that going to fit in??
In a couple days I’ll be going to MN for a 3-day weekend to visit family, etc. I was supposed to run the TC Marathon. Part of me is still considering running the first 10 miles or so then dropping. Hmm… Maybe…
Then the following weekend I’m in town but after that things get crazy. The 3rd weekend I’m going to San Fran with Abbie to the Nike Women’s Half Marathon. The 4th weekend I’m going to AZ to visit Angie and Javelina. So when am I going to Texas? Right smack in the middle of those two weekends. Looks like we are driving up to San Fran then I’ll be flying out of the Bay Area on the Nike weekend (on Sunday) to Texas. I’ll be in Texas through Thursday. Return Thursday night. Then fly out Friday morning to AZ. Yikes. It’s like 10 days straight of traveling to 3 different places. I won’t know which way is up by the time I get home at the end of the month! I think I’ll need a martini or two while in Texas. Any takers? (yes I’m talking to you Susan).
Well. I’m exhausted just thinking about all that. The day after I get back from my 10 day trip I’m also going to a concert in San Diego. Geesh. What else can I add to my schedule? November should be QUITE A BIT more mellow. I’ll be looking forward to that.
Happy Running & Dirty Feet,
Jessica

WOW girl!
you LIKE it and you know it. :*
Nothing like keeping yourself busy! I will see you at Javelina!
if you and abbie need a late night pre-race carb meal before your race on Sunday in San Francisco. i might be up for a late night post-race carb meal after my 12-hour run. Maybe we could get Miki and Michelle (also running at Nike Marathon) to join us.
let me know. and try to get some time for yourself during this busy month.
I’m in! I was going to try to help at the 12/24 so that’s perfect.
