My XT Wings Challenge

Recently I was contacted by a company working for Salomon running shoes.  I had always wanted to try Salomon shoes but have not yet had the chance.  When I was offered the opportunity to try these shoes in preparation for a challenge of my choosing, it was a no brainer for me and I was excited to take part in this selection group that was limited to 20 runners worldwide.  I had to come up with a challenge and thus, the following was born:

My 50 Mile Glimpse of Heaven Challenge

It put a new level on my training, one which probably benefits me from the added pressure to get in my long runs and start adding up the miles.  In addition to trying out this new pair of shoes, I have the opportunity to try out the new Nokia N82 "Multimedia computer" cell phone.  This phone is made for storytelling and is in essence a "very connected" camera and video recorder.

Nokia

This phone looks quite amazing.  It’s a training tool of the likes we haven’t really seen before.  A cell phone with wi-fi internet access, easy internet uploading, a 5Mp camera, a video camera capable of capturing at a full 30fps, integrated gps, mapping, etc.  Iphone schmi-phone is what I say.  This phone also has that cool feature of automatic screen rotation.  What more could you want?  How about video calling?  A 20x zoom and flash on the camera and 10x zoom on the video camera.  No longer do I need a watch, gps device, cell phone and camera attached to me on my runs.  All I need is the N82 and I’m all set.

I’m very excited about this pairing and using both of these new training aids for my first 50 mile race in Lake Tahoe.  I hope you will help support me and go to my challenge page and click to add my banner to your blog or webpage.  You can do that as well from the applet on this page.  The applets all say "he" instead of "she" no matter if it’s a male or female runner in the challenge.  Ah well.  You get the idea :)

I should be getting my shoes and phone next week. I’d already have them but there were out of my size.  I’ll be sure to post more on it when they arrive!

Happy Running & Dirty Feet,
Jessica

So THIS must have been what Jeff was hinting about in one of his last posts. Interesting.
