My Mid Week Quotes

Posted by socalrunnergirl on May 21, 2008

We’ve had some things going on this week (good things), so I haven’t been running so far.  Hopefully I’ll get out for a run tonight.  I felt great after my near 22 miler on Sunday and didn’t really experience any soreness either.  You gotta love that.  Had we not been busy, I would have been back out running the next day.  I’ll be curious to see what I feel like after 33 mile of Holcomb in a few weeks and I’m looking forward to my return to ultra running.  My goal there is just to finish.  It’s only a supported training run in my mind as I get ready for Tahoe.

I’m running a 5K race on Memorial Day.  I think it’s good to vary up training from time to time and doing a fast and short run will definitely do that.

And now for some quotes that have ruminating in my head:

"Minding your own business . . . includes avoiding eavesdropping, gossiping, talking behind other people’s backs, and analyzing or trying to figure out other people." Richard Carlson

"Great people talk about ideas. Small people talk about others." Unknown

"People become really quite remarkable when they start thinking that they can do things. When they believe in themselves they have the first secret of success." Norman Vincent Peale

In my experience, the third quote is hard to achieve if you focus on the first two.  Focusing on others can drag you down.  Believing in yourself can lift you up to new heights.

Happy Running & Dirty Feet,
Jessica

I was talking about you behind your back this morning. I was emailing Andy about maybe being back in LA early June and maybe trying to hook up with you and Andy for a run while I was there. :)
