Today I got the report and the film from my MRI. I'm no doctor so most of it doesn't make sense. I plan to ask lots of questions though (starting tomorrow at my first second opinion appointment)!
With how hard I was hit and what happened I'm rather surprised the ACL wasn't totally trashed along with the rest of my knee. I'm sure being in good shape with strong supporting muscles helped my knee from being completely blown out. As it stands, this is how it all stacks up:
1. high grade partial tear (grade 2) of proximal ACL (inside knee ligament)
2. high grade (grade 3) sprain of MCL (inside knee ligament)
3. grade 1 sprain of LCL (outside knee ligament)
Increased T2 signal?? What does that mean?
Fortunately my Meniscii, Patellar tendon, and PCL were unaffected.
It's about 10 days since my injury and I can sorta see my kneecap now but there is definitely still some swelling going on. Everyone who sees me thinks I'm in a lot of pain. Fortunately, I'm not – and it's mostly just uncomfortable at times.
