Last night Nickie & I went to the new Five Guys Burger place in Beaverton for dinner. I heard about it recently and the fact it was supposed to be like In N Out. The have never-frozen beef, fresh cut fries cooked in peanut oil, etc. They have no freezers or microwaves in their stores. I can’t find any evidence that the burgers come from grass-fed cows and it is not organic beef. It’s probably corn-beef like you find at most fast food places.
My review is that it is no In N Out. In N Out tastes fresher and healthier and is not nearly as messy. We got the regular cheeseburgers with the standard toppings. Their regular size is two patties (next time I’d get the small size). It comes with fried onion and a bunch of other sauces that end up making it soggy. Next time – light on the sauces and no fried onions.
It WAS a good burger. It’s a suitable substitute for In N Out if the fast food craving hits you. If I had both next door I’d pick In N Out but Five Guys is pretty good. If you go – think about getting the smaller burger and don’t get all the "free fixings" unless you want a soggy burger!
Tonight – no burger. Just running (and probably something healthier for dinner)
Happy Running & Dirty Feet,
Jessica

Inn-N-Out + the weather.
Two things keeping me from leaving California.
