Digital Pickpocketing

I hate to say I told you so.  But I did.  Back in 2006.  The issue is the RFID technology.  Many see it as a convenience because it allows you to do things like hold up your credit card to make a payment (is it really THAT hard to just swipe it?).  RFID chips are everywhere today – in your passport, in many of your credit cards, in transponders for toll roads, etc.  The technology is not very secure which is why I was so concerned.  To learn more, go to this web page and watch the video.  It’s very eye opening! Oh – and don’t be fooled by the close range demonstration in this video.  RFID cards CAN be read at longer distances than this video shows. You can protect yourself by shielding your passports and/or credit cards with a product like this.
