It’s been a while since I last posted to you. I hope you have been okay while I was gone. There has been lots of activity lately and plenty to blog about but I think I’ve just been too busy to write it all down.
I had a blog post ready to go last week (in my head), about how I was moving back down to California in October. But then an education snafu came up in my background check that’s never been an issue before. But, for AAA it was and I saw the job yanked out from under me and the resulting crush of my spirit just a bit. It’s been tough but I’m trying to get back on the horse and back on the job hunt. I hate interviewing. And while I have good qualifications in my field, many jobs these days don’t want to look at someone who is out of state for fear they will be expected to pay for moving expenses. I plan to pay for my own but often it never gets that far for me to explain. It just makes the move back all that more challenging but not impossible.
I’ve also been busy working on film stuff, setting up a website for side business venture (more to come soon), coaching softball (our team is 3-1 but should be 4-0 doh!), drinking beer (lots of that around here), and getting outside before the sun goes away for 6 months. Christina, Deb, Lindsey and I went on a beautiful hike in the Gorge on Saturday. 7.1 miles and 2800′ of elevation gain over the first 3.4 miles. It was rough, but fun. I even ran the last mile or so of downhill. My legs are pretty trashed since I’m not used to that kind of terrain anymore but the good news is my knee felt pretty awesome (just a bit sore on the way up) which is good, considering the steepness and the technical terrain.

Christina and I are also getting a new puppy. Toblerone needs a playmate! We’re not sure which one we get from the litter yet but here is one of them. They are two weeks old now and we get to take ours home at 6 weeks.
I’m also busy working on stuff for Twin Peaks in February. Working on sponsors and such right now. I’m looking forward to another awesome race! If I’m not moved down there by then it will make it a little more challenging but I’ve done it before – and it will be a great getaway from the gloom. But hopefully the “getaway” to Twin Peaks will only be a few miles from my home and not 1000 miles
Happy Running & Dirty Feet,
Jessica

So sad to hear job fell through — that would throw me for a loop too. You are very hireable (sp?), so another is bound to come around soon. I wish I could run Twin Peaks, speaking of California, I just don’t think I can be ready. Glad to read you’re back on the trails : ) Have fun!
Awww, Toblerone is such an adorable puppy! Good thing you’re making progress again to your blog. I kinda miss your posts.. Cheers to your upcoming plans!
