I injured my knee almost 5 weeks ago. It has felt VERY unstable since then but I’m in a brace 24/7 so don’t always notice. The doctor who initially treated me went with a very conservative approach and had locked out my knee to not bend more than 30 degrees. In retrospect I’m not sure that was a good idea and not a lot of doctors do that.
When I started going to PT about 2.5 weeks ago I could only bend my knee 57 degrees and it turns out my surgeon was even a little bit concerned. But hard work pays off and I’m now at 94-98 degrees and will hopefully be riding a bike starting next week if I can consistently get in the 100 range. I saw my surgeon today and he said I’m making great progress and I’ll be ready for surgery on July 15th. He tested my MCL which he said is getting more stable as well.
One more gym day today then 4 days off since I’ll be out of town. Bummer. I’ll do what exercises I can though – especially the stretching and range of motion stuff. Hopefully by the time I get back to the gym next week I can start some light bike riding and stair climbing. Maybe even nordic track. They pretty much all depend on me being 100+ degrees.
