Okay so Dean didn't break the treadmill record.
The really big news is:
My favorite coffee place has gone green. Take that Starbucks!
Sometimes it's the simple little things in life...
Click here for the top 10 way you can go green
1. Canvas shopping bags for when I buy groceries. It's neither paper nor plastic.
2. Switching to "green" cleaning supplies, toiletries, etc. I'm using Shaklee for cleaning stuff but there is a line called 7th generation or something like that which is also good.
3. Switching light bulbs to more energy efficient ones
4. No more bottled water from the grocery store
5. Become vegetarian (or skip meat when you can). It takes huge amounts of energy to process meat in this country.
6. Buy a hybrid vehicle if you can
There are A LOT more things than can be done to go green. But I figure if we each find a couple things and do our part we don't have to go crazy and live in a tree house and make our own toilet paper :)

it's interesting you bring up 'green' today, jessica. i picked up a copy of 'outdoor gear' yesterday and one of the front taglines was 'green gear'.
it made me think about the trend for outdoor performance gear, mostly packs and wicking shirts, is starting to really pick up.
my understanding is that brooks cascadia is the only trail shoe out there that is employing real green technology for performance. i think i had heard at some point that nike was developing something, too, but not necessarily for the trails.
you should write something about this for CRN. it seems like there should be a natural marriage between people that want to be outdoors and wanting to find green products that help them perform better.
it just got me thinkins, as did your post.
thanks!

#5 on your list is also important to the issue of cruel, factory-farming practices. If every person made a conscious effort to have at least 3 vegetarian meals per week, our demand would be drastically lowered and might push some legislation through on these practices.
Plus, it also means less hormone-pumped meat for you, which is healthier.
*gets off her soapbox*

All great suggestions. I've begun bringing cloth sacks on shorter grocery runs and it feels great to not have all those bags lying around. I'm also a big Simple Green junkie.
